The SuperFlux stands out as the preferred motor choice for VESC-based OneWheels. Crafted by Fungineers, this motor was meticulously designed with OneWheel performance as its primary focus. The original SuperFlux, MK1, concluded its production cycle in November 2023. Its successor, the MK2, started shipping on December 18th, featuring only a few distinctions. Both iterations boast an approximately 18% increase in K$v$. While the initial SuperFlux prioritized heat dissipation, incorporating ferrofluid and a raw metal ring on the hub for enhanced cooling, the MK2 omits these features, deeming them somewhat excessive. Another noteworthy difference is the use of knock-off SKF bearings in the original model due to issues with foreign suppliers, a concern rectified with the MK2 model. Additionally, the SuperFlux is renowned for its robust build, with the MK2 version weighing in at a substantial 17.1 pounds, making it the heaviest among available hub motors. This weight, however, should be considered in light of the motor's exceptional performance characteristics.
